Isekai Joucho mention! I’m so glad you brought her up because this for sure has to be one of the albums I’ve most been anticipating as of late. Her first album is jam packed with some of my favorite Kamitsubaki songs so it’s gonna be pretty hard to top for me, but I am really interested to hear what she brings to the table with her 2nd album. I think there’s already a handful of songs I’m guaranteed to love just based on the short album preview vid.
It took me a while to come around Isekai Joucho. I think it was when I heard her live performance of "Sirius no Shinzou" (such a beautiful song; the morse code part destroys me every time) that I became a Joucho believer, lol, but yes, really love her voice now and I look forward to every time I get to hear her sing.
Oh yeah, I'm liking saba sister a lot. Just judging based on how "Kakugo wo Kimero" sounds, they definitely do giving off heavy 'early SCANDAL' vibes, and I do agree that they make a really good first impression with their expressive energy. I also enjoyed how we got to see a little bit of their sense of humor and how much fun this group has through their music video; I really enjoyed watching it. Definitely gonna take a listen to their album later this month!
LUMINOUS ended up being one of my most anticipated albums for the year, especially after really liking "Highlight no naka de bokura zutto", so I'm totally gonna check that one out as well. I don't listen to SCANDAL as much as I probably should so it'll be cool to further hear how different they sound nowadays, compared to the stuff heard on ENCORE SHOW and such.
The ExWHYZ album should be good too, so I may take a look at that one when it comes out.
But yeah, appreciate you bringing some of these albums up! As for me, BATTEN GIRLS is coming out with a new single later this month, which I'm really interested in checking out. Their previous release was admittedly just okay IMO, so I'm hoping this upcoming one will be more up my alley. Also the ≠ME/Not Equal Me idol group's releasing their first full-length album, and going off the bangers they've released this past year, this one's definitely gonna be promising.
Yup, actually kinda feel a little bit of the goofiness of SHISHAMO in them too! My head canon is that their name being in reference to a fish might actually be inspired *by* SHISHAMO. But yeah, one to look out for for sure. Glad to have you on board!
They just dropped the album trailer for LUMINOUS and man, there's a song in there ("Plum") that's just guaranteed to be a bop. Can't WAIT to hear it in full.
Dress to Kill might be the one I'm most excited for out of these five. I just have a feeling it's gonna be an experience, lol
iirc I think I liked the B-side of BATTEN GIRLS' previous single more than the A-side, but yeah, if anything I'm actually just glad they're still sort of sticking to the same sort of sound aesthetic of CUE-SAI. Definitely gonna check out the Noimii album just out of sheer curiousity on my end, haha!
That would be pretty neat if they were inspired by SHISHAMO with their name, I can see that being a possibility! Also, I couldn't help but to be reminded of Chilli Beans after going back to their MVs... mainly because Nachi (I believe) kiiiiiiiinda looks like Moto at times lol
I thought about just waiting until the album came out to hear it but I was too curious, and yeah... Plum's gonna be fire. the bass goes crazy in that
It'll be cool to see if you end up getting on the Noimii train, as I do think they're a cool bunch that puts out some really nice stuff!
